Here at Roarockit, we care about the environment. In order to respect the quality of veneer necessary for building skateboards, we do need to sort to respect the A and B grades (face and core) of each sheet.
Following this sorting, we have maple sheets that are of lower quality; with very big knots, big cracks, very curled, broken. Although we do not offer them in our classic packs, these sheets can be used for building boards and other projects and thus recycling and giving new life to the veneer.
All sheets in this pack will have imperfections.
Each set of veneer includes:
- Two cross grain maple sheets called "crossband"at 1/22 '' thickness (1.15 mm)
- Five maple sheets at 1.16 '' thickness (1.58 mm) with a longitudinal fiber, called "face", "core" or "neutral fiber" depending on their position in the stack of your board.
How to use this product:
Design and build your own custom skateboard using this 1/16 '(1.58mm) thick veneer. This veneer fits perfectly to our vacuum presses (Thin Air Press), which apply uniform pressure across the entire board. By assembling several 1/16 'layers of veneer, you will be able to create radical curves, which will add rigidity to your board.
The classic assembly of a seven ply corresponds to the following stacking:
- One face: long grain
- One core: long grain
- A crossband: cross grain
- A core (also called neutral fiber, in the center of the board): long grain
- A crossband: cross grain
- One core: long grain
- One face: long grain
Glue (estimate) per deck: 13 oz (38 cl) To calculate how much glue you need for your project, check out our glue calculator.
Suggested vacuum press size: 20 x 70 Thin Air Press: TPK20

Maintenance:
Until they are laminated together, veneer sheets are prone to splitting, especially cross band sheets. Handle them with care.
- if a sheet is split or broken, not to worry these sheets are entirely useable and will not effect the quality of your board. Simply apply glue to those lines while pressing your board. Once dried, the board will be very strong.
- if the sheets are warped/wavy (often due to temperature changes during transport), once put under press, these thin and flexible sheets will easily flatten out.
Veneer expands and contracts with moisture. Keep your veneer stored away from all heat sources and lay it flat. Keep all veneer sheets together so that when they acclimatise to the environment, all layers expand or contract the same. If your work area is very dry, keep your unused veneer sealed in plastic until you are ready to use it. |
